Conversations with friends

One of the girls I’m talking about

and what I’ve learned from them…

Most of the time, as expected of me and my friends, we are saying something stupid that you HAD TO BE THERE to understand. If you’re around us, you’re probably used to the same handful of characters being quite loud and always running around together. Even the worst of days can be turned around when I see these girls faces or I hear a silly story from them. To outsiders, it might sound like gibberish.

These are the friends that your parents will inevitably know too much about, but that you just can’t get enough of.

However, -if you’re lucky- you can maybe catch us on a good day. Where we’ll say something worthwhile that even surprises those participating in the conversation. Today, I will do things a little differently. I’m going to share with you some of my favorite things that I’ve discussed with these people lately:

  1.    An unexpected smile can completely change your day.

  2. Love looks differently to each person.

  3. Stop losing parts of yourself chasing somebody else.

  4.   A place is only as good as the people in it.

  5. You must eat shit a few times before it finally sticks.

  6. “you deserve better” is a really interesting way of saying you’re not worth changing for.

  7. Learning to put yourself first is not selfish, those who love you will encourage it.

  8. Good habits attract good people.

  9. The mind is our most powerful tool but can quickly become our downfall.

  10. Stop overthinking, do you, others’ opinions are extra.

  11. End things before they end you, even if you’re afraid it’ll hurt.

I never wish to be easily defined
— Franz Kafka

Another pin I liked!

If you do get to encounter people like these, ones ready to laugh but willing have the difficult conversations. People who will take you in wholeheartedly, and love the parts of yourself you won’t. Do yourself the favor of taking care of them. Love them with all that you can, and you’ll learn to love yourself along the way.
